Crystal with sea spray pattern

1750-185

6.3cm

Provenance:

Pierrette Di-Donna, France (1985)

Description

Crystal; with a slightly concave mouth and supported on a foot rim with flattened edges, very well hollowed to reveal the natural ‘seaspray’ pattern within the material.

This variation of rock crystal has a distinctive natural pattern known as ‘Seaspray’ and provides a completely contrasting visual experience to the preceding bottle. The broad sloped shoulders add to its impact. For other examples of seaspray crystal see The Art of the Chinese Snuff Bottle, nos 95 and 96 and WhiteWings, no. 124.
