Description

Jadeite; with a small mouth and supported on a raised foot rim with flattened edges, the material vividly splashed with emerald-green on front.

This dramatic combination of colour was known to the Chinese as ‘Pine needles in the snow’ and it exemplifies the appreciation by the literati of the natural colours provided by nature within the hard stones they used. Although the splashes of colour do not represent anything recognisable, the brilliance of the colour and the bold disposition of the patterns results in a bottle which is stimulating and visually exciting.
